'Zines for those who don't know (sorry if you do) are maga(zines) that were made in various subcultures. Punk being the one I grew up in.
Designing zines alongside Raymond Pettibon and Mike Topp was a defining moment—a full-circle alignment of my roots, my work, and the visual culture that made me who I am. Raymond’s work was a foundational spark for me early on, one of the primary reasons I fell in love with raw visual expression and ultimately pursued a career as a designer and artist. Getting to collaborate in that space was less about putting together pages and more about paying tribute to a mentor.
The process was driven by pure visual storytelling and raw, uninhibited editorial direction. Working with Raymond and Mike, every spread had to feel organic yet intentional and surreal. We weren't aiming for pristine, sterile graphics; we were building low-fi, high-impact pieces that somehow told a non sequitur story.
