Research
The product design process for the watches was guided by the idea in a bar one night but focused on unique storytelling, and innovation, resulting in a collection that embodies bold luxury. I conducted research into watch trends, materials, and customer preferences to identify unique opportunities in the luxury watch market. Spent weeks joining and participating in watch forum discussions. I collected data on what was important to followers of craft watch brands.

Core Timepieces began when two brother–in–laws were at a cocktail bar one night.  Here's the actual napkin sketch from that night.

Conceptualization and Design
I brainstormed and sketched initial concepts, focusing on unique selling points and innovative features that aligned with the brand’s identity. This stage involved a lot of open sketching, play, and exploration.
Material Selection
Choosing the right materials was critical. I considered factors such as durability, aesthetics, and cost. The first run of watches we built with stainless steel and quickly moved to a lighter titanium alloy.
To convey longevity and growth for a model I chose materials like bronze for its aging patina effect, gemstone dials (e.g., malachite, lapis lazuli), and premium leathers, blending rugged elegance with sophistication.
Design Detailing
I refined the sketches into detailed designs using software from Adobe Creative Suite. This included defining the watch case, dial, hands, strap, and other components to represent a finished piece.
Prototyping and Testing
Development
I collaborate with representatives from our manufacturing plant to create prototypes. This stage involved translating the design into a 3D rendered schematic that represented the physical model, ensuring it meets both aesthetic and functional requirements. Using 3D printers we created prototype samples
Testing
Conducting tests was essential to evaluate the watch’s comfort, functionality, and overall user experience. Assigning certain individuals as our pilot testers helped not only in developing a better product but gave us an insight into our customer. Feedback from these tests was used to make necessary adjustments.
Collaboration and Production
Manufacturing Coordination
I worked closely with experts from various departments at our factory to ensure the designs were produced to the highest standards. This involved specifying materials, finishes, and assembly processes. I had to create visual mockups, gather material samples, and share inspiration with them to communicate the desired look and feel.
Quality Control
Overseeing the production process to ensure each watch met the brand’s quality benchmarks. This included inspecting the final product for any defects or inconsistencies, requesting vacuum and water pressure testing to ensure the highest quality.
Final Presentation and Launch
Alignment
Ensuring that the final product was consistent with the brand’s image and marketing strategy. This included collaborating with marketing teams to create compelling product presentations and launch campaigns.
Feedback Loop
Gathering feedback from customers and stakeholders post-launch to understand the product’s reception and identify areas for improvement in future designs.
By meticulously navigating each of these steps, I ensured that every watch not only embodied the brand’s unique identity but also delivered exceptional value and satisfaction to the end user.
