This series, "Dinner Music for a pack of Hungry Cannibals", is a four-part mixed-media exploration of how we interact with, and are often consumed by sound and culture.
This work uses aggressive, linear black lines—trace elements from my all-night tagging trips—to cut through a dense visual field of layered collage, acrylic, and spray paint (enamel).
I've revisited this motif ands style throughout my career. Embracing the music and other substances i was getting lost in as i painted. Letting the beats, rhythms, and alchol guide my hand as i sketched the musicians.... overlapping, entwining, and imposing each other with the elements and atmosphere of the environment.
Put on Peter Brötzmann, Whatthefuckdoyouwant1 preferably wearing headphones and stare at these pieces until you hear the distinct sound of your own DNA unzipping to make room for a rhythmic section composed entirely of caffeinated jackhammers and thunderbird..... or just the entire Home Brew album by Mojack.
